How to store cigars at home

Tobacco holds moisture. Kept too dry, a cigar burns fast and hot and the wrapper cracks. Kept too damp, it draws tight and can grow mould. Most smokers aim for the middle.
The numbers most people use
A common rule of thumb is about 65 to 70 percent relative humidity at around 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Steady matters more than exact. Big swings do more harm than a point or two either way.
What to keep them in
A humidor lined with Spanish cedar is the classic answer. For a handful of cigars, an airtight container with a two-way humidity pack does the same job for very little money.
Leave the cellophane on if the cigars came wrapped. It slows moisture changes and protects the wrapper when you move things around.
Small habits that help
Keep the box away from sunlight and heating vents.
Rotate cigars from the bottom to the top every few weeks.
Let cigars that travelled rest for a few days before you light one.
